Victoria Opens 2025–26 Skilled Migration Program for New Applicants

The State of Victoria has officially launched its 2025-26 Skilled Migration Program, inviting qualified professionals from both Australia and overseas to apply for nomination.

According to the Department of Home Affairs, Victoria has received an initial visa allocation of:

  • 200 places for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190), and
  • 180 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).

A full program allocation is expected to be announced soon, with updates to be posted on the Live in Melbourne (https://liveinmelbourne.vic.gov.au/) website and newsletter.

Application Process

Individuals seeking Victorian nomination must complete:

  1. An Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect (SkillSelect – Live in Melbourne), and
  2. A Registration of Interest (ROI) FOR Victoria’s nomination program (Registration of Interest for Victorian Visa Nomination – Live in Melbourne).

Applicants who already have an active ROI do not need to reapply unless their personal details have changed.

Available Visa Pathways

The 2025-26 Skilled Migration Program covers two main visa categories:

  • Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) – offering a pathway to permanent residence in Victoria.
  • Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) – providing opportunities to live and work in regional Victoria.

A Chance to Build a Future in Victoria

This program provides skilled professionals with the opportunity to contribute to Victoria’s thriving economy and vibrant communities. With limited places available in the initial round, applicants are encouraged to prepare early and ensure they meet all eligibility and nomination requirements.
