What to Do After Completing Your Course in Australia: Study, Work, or Migrate?
Finishing your studies in Australia opens up exciting opportunities — but it can also raise questions about what comes next. Whether you plan to continue studying, gain work experience, or apply for migration, the key is to understand your options early.
Option 1: Continue Studying
Many graduates choose to further their education by enrolling in a higher-level qualification.
For example:
From a Diploma to an Advanced Diploma
From an Advanced Diploma to a Bachelor’s Degree
From a Bachelor’s to a Graduate Diploma or Master’s Program
This pathway helps students specialize, improve their employability, and extend their visa legally.
Option 2: Apply for a Post-Study Work Visa
If you completed an eligible qualification at a recognized institution, you may apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485).
This visa allows you to:
Stay in Australia temporarily (up to 4 years for some qualifications).
